BSI Australia and Cyberknowledge Partner to Strengthen Cyber Security for Australian Small and Medium Businesses

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA - BSI, the business improvement and standards company, and Cyberknowledge, an AI Assisted cyber risk management and compliance platform, today announced a strategic partnership that introduces a tailored cyber security assessment designed specifically for Australian Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs).

This collaboration brings together the Cyberknowledge SMB-focused Cyberfitness Assessment with BSI's business standard expertise to provide Australian SMBs with a practical and achievable path towards cyber maturity, and eventual business standard frameworks such as ISO/IEC 27001 certification.

Many SMBs struggle to navigate the complex world of cyber security, often finding complex frameworks overwhelming. This partnership offers a structured, step-by-step approach that makes improvements more accessible and manageable. The partnership addresses a critical gap in the market by providing small and medium-sized organisations with a practical starting point for their Cyber security maturity assessment and uplift. The Cyberfitness Assessment is specifically designed to meet SMBs where they are, using straightforward language and achievable steps that align with their operational realities to building the foundation for future ISO/IEC 27001 certification.

"In the global digital landscape, core business practices are increasingly cloud-based. We recognise that embracing ISO/IEC 27001 and aiming at certification straight away, can be overwhelming for smaller organizations," said Harold Pradal, President, Assurance Services, BSI. "Through this partnership, we're introducing a manageable and practical approach. The Cyberknowledge Cyber fitness assessment framework is designed to serve as a pragmatic first step, allowing businesses to build their cyber security capability at a pace that matches their resources and readiness. It allows those organizations to improve their management systems and align with the requirements of ISO/IEC 27001, ultimately accelerating progress towards a digitally secure world."

The Cyberknowledge platform creates a structured pathway through several key stages:

  • Initial Assessment: A comprehensive evaluation using SMB friendly language and metrics
  • Gap Analysis: Clear identification of areas requiring attention, prioritised for SMB context
  • Improvement Planning: Practical, staged approach tailored that considers SMB resourcing reality
  • Progress Tracking: Regular monitoring of security posture improvements
  • ISO/IEC 27001 Readiness: Graduated and structured progression towards certification requirements

"The Cyberfitness Assessment was purpose-built for SMB’s needs in mind," said Chris Hagios, Managing Director, Cyberknowledge. "We understand that Small and Medium Businesses need a clear, actionable starting point that's both practical and achievable. The Cyber fitness assessment provides a foundation while ensuring all improvements align with the eventual goal of ISO/IEC 27001 certification."

This partnership targets businesses with fewer than 500 employees, offering a flexible platform subscription packages that accommodate SMBs that have limited resources and competing priorities. The program includes support through BSI's Australian operations, ensuring businesses receive guidance that reflects local market conditions and requirements. Special pricing packages will be available for SMBs, making this structured approach to cyber security improvement accessible to a broader range of organisations.
